If you are a fan of electronic music, you've heard of Space. Its name is synonymous with massive electronic shows. There's also a club called Space in Ibiza, but Club Space in Miami is a top-notch institution in its own rite.
Often known for its marathon sets, Space is not for the faint of heart. DJs take the decks for somewhat preposterous lengths of time. Ten-hour sets are not out of the ordinary. For New Year's Eve in 2015, DJ Loco Dice played for an uninterrupted 24 hours. In case you're wondering, the record for the longest DJ set ever was set by Norbert Selmaj in a bar in Dublin. His set was 200 hours!
While Space sometimes hosts artists from genres like alternative rock and hip hop, its core is techno, house, and EDM. It's hosted some of the biggest names in electronic music including Richie Hawtin, Claude Von Stroke, Gorgon City, and Green Velvet.
The ground floor has been creatively named "The Ground," which has an impressive sound system and can hold up to around 500 people. Bands to come through The Ground include FKJ, James Blake, and Bonobo.
"The Loft" is an indoor area on the top floor that focuses mostly on hip hop. "The Terrace" is an outdoor rooftop area that spins mostly house and techno. If you're in need of some air after some sweaty hours in the main room, you might want to head up to The Terrace for a breather. The Terrace also sometimes has yoga classes when there aren't DJs spinning until the early morning.
