“The Insider's Guide” Of Where To Go And What To Do In Chicago
This place is a little outside of Roscoe Village itself, but North Center—where this canoe and kayak rental is located—is one of the areas that sandwiches Roscoe Village, so it’s not too far away.
The boat rental and tour service offer both individual and group rentals, so you can explore the North branch of the Chicago River alone or with a party. The stretch of the river the boats go through is one packed with wildlife—herons, fish, and turtles are all present as you paddle by. Everything you could need is provided with the rental, for an hour or an afternoon, including paddling instruction for beginners. Beginners are also sent North from the Chicago launch, so the current can help bring them back, as the rental is for a round-trip journey on the river. At the river location, sunset nature tours and dinner trips are offered and while reservations aren't required, if you want a guaranteed spot, they recommend it.
You will see Chicago in a whole new light as you travel down the river and encounter nature you never expected to find in a city. They also over cardio classes if you want to do a fun kayak workout. Chicago River Canoe and Kayak is open from May to October.
