The story of Chez Nous starts long before Austin became a foodie metropolis. In the 1970's three friends Robert Paprota, Pascal Refimbeau, and Sybil Reinhart-Regimbeau decided to introduce true French cuisine to the then sleepy college town. In a town dominated by BBQ and Tex-Mex opening a French restaurant was an audacious act. The gambit payed off because Austonians gravitate to good food, wherever it comes from. Chez Nous quickly became a foodie find, a preferred date spot, and a hideout from the wild booziness of 6th street. Austin has seen a lot of change in recent years. High rises have been popping up like weeds and the sleepy college town has now become a booming tech metropolis. Thankfully Chez Nous is still serving up inspired, delicate, and delicious French food and wine in an unpretentious setting.

The Chez Nous menu is a great combination of seasonally inspired specials and old school classics. It is hard to beat French classics like Entrecôte Béarnaise (Steak Frites) or Noix de St. Jacques aux pleurottes (Sea Scallops Mushrooms and Squash puree). The staff are incredible at helping patrons navigate the menu and wine list if they are not familiar with French cuisine. The best option though is put your stomach in the hands of the masters in the kitchen and just go with the prix fixe menu at $32.50. The prix fixe menu includes a starter, entree, and dessert and one of the best dinner deals in the city. So if you are trying to impress a date, love classic French cuisine, or need some refuge from the hurly-burly of 6th street, pop into Chez Nous and get the best French food in the city.
