The Charlotte Gay Men's Chorus is more than just a group of talented singers. These are men of passion, vision, and leadership. It's clear from their performances that part of the mission is unity. More than that, it's about community. The songs they sing range from fun and light-hearted to sobering and thought-provoking. The chorus performs all over the city and state bringing their message of love and inclusion to all who hear them. Their musical stylings run the gamut and they even have a special group who sings jazz classics. They were the first EVER gay chorus to perform at a professional sporting event! They proudly performed for a Charlotte Hornets game and wowed the crowd with their talents.
The purpose of the Charlotte Gay Men's Chorus is not just about singing and sounding AWESOME (There's some serious talent in this group!). It's about coming together to foster a sense of community. They hope that one day there will be equality for all people regardless of race, gender identification, sexual orientation, or religion. They're also strong advocates for persons living with HIV/AIDS. This band of dedicated men takes their call to foster love and inclusion very seriously. Through programming and performances that include a holiday showcase, the group is finding ways to reach more people.
Throughout the year, the Charlotte Gay Men's Chorus puts on several events and fundraisers. The group holds an annual gala with an auction as well as several workshops. They receive financial support from ticket sales, and generosity from organizations, businesses, and individuals. When you're in Charlotte, getting tickets to one of their events or performances is a must! Visit their website for ticket information and events happening during your stay. You'll be glad you did!
