Since its inception nearly two decades ago, Charlotte Pride has been an organization carrying the torch of its predecessors. They work tirelessly to ensure equality and inclusion for the city's LGBTQ population. Charlotte Pride's mission is to bring awareness to the lives and experiences of the LGBTQ community through its many programs and events. Partnering with the organization, Charlotte's businesses, residents, and leadership have shown support through donations and volunteering. It's true, Charlotte Pride is known for its annual festival, but there is much more happening here.
Charlotte Pride is heavily involved in community activism. There are year-round programs and events for just about every LGBTQ demographic in the city! With the college scholarship, youth, and inter-faith programs, Charlotte Pride is committed to serving the entire LGBTQ community. There are programs focused on queer people of color as well as family-centered programming. This organization has many ways to participate in events and programs; and also has several opportunities to give financially.
...and now, we party! The Charlotte Pride Festival is an annual three-day event packed with activities and bursting with—well, pride. The festival and subsequent parade are free of charge and all are welcome to attend. Events for the 2019 Charlotte pride week include a Drag Trivia, a Trans Pride Mixer, Trans Pride Job Fair, Interfaith Service, and even a Doggie Fashion Show! The dates for this year's festival were August 17th and 18th, but Pride Week events began as early as August 4th.
