Winner of the 2019 “Best of the Twin Cities” award in the Cafe category, the Cafe Astoria has become a celebrated coffee shop, known for its creative blends and Instagram-worthy designs. City Pages describes the Rainbow Peppermint Latte as a, “glowing, candy-colored dream,” and the S’mores latte is, “an over-sized marshmallow roasting like a sugary pig on a spit.” Cafe Astoria bolsters the morning cup of coffee with cream and sugar to an entirely new level.
Their extensive food and beverage menu is sure to please everyone, from the simplest diner to the foodie with an exquisite pallet and a laundry list of expectations. The surprisingly reasonably priced Signature Lattes include such flavor combinations as Leah’s Happy Place, which is matcha, lavender, and pistachio, perfect for a chilly November afternoon. The Bee Sting is espresso, bee pollen, wildflower honey, and chili, to boost the immune system when the autumn leaves fall, or the spring flowers bloom. For more traditional coffee drinkers, the Hot Coffee Drinks menu offers cafe au lait, cappuccino, and of course, drip coffee.
Hungry? Try one of their either sweet or savory crepes. A Bacon, Cheddar, and Egg crepe provides a full breakfast, wrapped in the thin fried batter. For a more experimental flavor, the chickpea, chevre, and avocado crepe might be what you are seeking. The sweet crepes specialize in either Nutella filling, or lemon curd.
Cafe Astoria is located across the Mississippi River from Minneapolis, in St. Paul. It is walking distance from the Upper Landing Park, from Irvine Park, and also from Summit Overlook Park. Check it out on your next stroll near the river.
