The Original Broken Yolk Café first opened its' doors in 1979 in Pacific Beach - a local beach community in San Diego, California. For many years, the waiting line ran out the door. Due to these long lines, many passing by though that they would give the cafe a try. After one visit, many were hooked to the food Broken Yolk Cafe served. The restaurant is known for its high quality, homemade food and large portions of delicious breakfast and lunch specials. In 2009, the cafe was featured on The Travel Channel’s Man vs Food which introduced the brand to millions of viewers outside of Southern California. After this publicity, the chain grew to 15 locations in San Diego County, 34 locations nationwide, and 10 more in development.
This cafe's menu has a wide variety to please everyone in your party. The cafe offers your traditional breakfast and lunch items as well as some local specials and a slight twist on some of our favorites. Since you can get your traditional eggs and pancakes almost anywhere in the United States, we highly suggest indulging in the Tijuana Street Tacos or the Baja Breakfast Taco. For those that want to enjoy a healthier option, the Broken Yoke has a delicious Acai bowl filled with your typical fresh fruit, granola, coconut, and honey. The Acai is actually created into a thicker texture and comes scooped like ice cream.
If you are feeling adventurous, the cafe does have a food challenge which requires one to eat a dozen egg omelet filled with mushrooms, onions, cheese, chili, and more cheese. And if you thought that was it.. there is more! There is also a pile of home fries and two biscuits. Ask waitstaff for "The Two Man Special" for your chance to tackle this challenge.
