Broadway Market

Broadway Market, located in the heart of Fells Point, is one of the first public markets in Baltimore, dating back to 1786. One of six remaining public markets left in Baltimore, the markets were once the city’s major source of food for the growing city. In the early days, the market yards were equipped with stalls, barns, and a weighing platform to accommodate the livestock the farmers brought into town to sell. On market days, farmers came to Fell’s Point by wagon, boat, and ferry from nearby counties seeking an outlet for their products.

These days, Broadway Market is nearly unrecognizable as a relic of the past. Recently reopened with a whole bunch of modern, multicultural eatery Broadway Market is the place to go with a picky crowd. If one person has a yearning for kimchi, but another is set on seafood or chicken and waffles, all your pickiest friends can be happy here. Want to learn all about the reopening? Check out this video from WJZ.

This is also one of the best spots in Baltimore to travel the world without leaving home. Drop by Thai Street to grab some of the best pad thai in town or visit Verandah for a totally unintimidating taste of Indian snack food - we recommend the papdi chaat - think of it as Indian nachos. Need a treat? Stop into Taharka Brothers for ice cream with a side of social justice or grab a cocktail at Fat Tiger, where the inventive drinks come topped with chilis and edible flowers.

Seriously, try the Thai!
