Blue Star is a multi-use property seated along the San Antonio River that has become a cornerstone of the Southtown neighborhood. Known for its influence in the San Antonio art community, this destination has become a place for people to live, eat, explore, and create. With so many options, Blue Star is a great place to spend a full day immersing yourself in the culture of San Antonio.
The perfect place to start is the Blue Star Contemporary, the first and longest-running venue for contemporary art in San Antonio. After you peruse this long-standing location, you can tour the other fantastic artist showrooms spread throughout the property. Galleries and studios like Cinnabar, Gravy, Flight Gallery, and several others provide the perfect opportunity for art enthusiasts to find works of all types they connect with.
While art is the centerpiece at Blue Star, the complex still doesn't disappoint when it comes to places to experience fine dining, enjoy hand-crafted drinks, and shop at unique retail locations. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner can be found on-site with options like Sukeban, serving up sushi and champagne daily; Stella Public House, known for locally sourced pizza, homemade cheeses, and a selection of craft beers; Blue Star Brewing Company, an eclectic microbrewery; Halcyon, a hip coffee shop also serving creative cocktails; and even a panini and gelato joint.
The complex is also home to retail shops of all types, like the Blue Star Bike Shop, San Angel Folk Art, and Mockingbird Handprints. Unique shops like Divine Sunshine offer curated vintage, high fashion pieces, handmade jewelry, and plenty of art to purchase. Art is the name of the game at Blue Star, and it pervades every aspect of the experience while at the complex.
