If a Mexican restaurant allows you to bring your own container to purchase and bring home soup to enjoy, that’s always a good sign. The neighborhood feel at Birrieria Guadalajara carries over to the bright-orange exterior, hand-painted signage and the indoor/outdoor setup. The restaurant’s namesake, birria, makes for a spectacular soup, but everything here is great, from the breakfast served at 7 am to the endless taco options (we recommend the lengua). Just remember to hit the ATM first: it’s cash only here. DID YOU KNOW?: Yes, winter doesn’t last long here and it’s arguable that it barely happens at all, but during that one brisk week or so of sweater weather, stop by for a champurrado, a creamy take on hot chocolate accentuated with spices.
