Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park

Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Recreation Area is a park located in the southern portion of the Key Biscayne. The park includes the Cape Florida Light, the oldest standing structure in Greater Miami. The park is most known for its stunning sunsets over the bay and the historic 1825 Cape Florida Lighthouse.

The park was named after Bill Baggs, the editor of The Miami News from 1957 to 1969. Baggs worked to protect the area from development and to preserve its natural state.

Cape Florida has historically served as a beacon for freedom. Today, Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park is officially part of the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Trail.
