The Mandir is a holy place of worship for those who believe in Hinduism. It was designed according to the Shipa Shastras, the Hindu texts on sacred architecture. BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir is a traditional Hindu temple built by a denomination of the Swaminarayan branch of Hinduism

The Mandir is the largest of its kind in Texas and built from Italian marble and Turkish limestone. Practices held within the walls of the Mandir embody much of Hindu philosophy, and devotees sing their praise to God throughout the day in a practice called arti.

Come see great architectural beauty inspired by the divine

In 1977 a small group of believers named Pramukh Swami Maharaj first visited Houston to hold spiritual gatherings. The congregation grew quickly, and moved to the local High School to accommodate the quickly growing assembly.

By 1985, the plans for the first mandir were put into effect to accommodate the growing community. The newest and current mandir was built and completed by September of 2000.
