Built in 1920, Avalyn Garden Bed and Breakfast offers hospitality, comfort, and convenience to guests visiting the downtown Ann Arbor area. Conveniently located less than a mile from the University of Michigan campus, the Avalyn is the perfect place to stay for visiting parents or anyone wanting a relaxing getaway. The Avalyn was refurbished in 2005 when a gourmet kitchen and sunroom were carefully added to the home to maintain the charm of the original architectural style.
Breakfast is served daily in the dining room and is chef's choice. Along with a fruit course, it may include a variety of omelets, frittatas, pancakes, french toast, breakfast meats, and juice. Frequently they will offer a sweet entree one day and a savory one the next but will accommodate any dietary needs or restrictions. Guest rooms all have private bathrooms, are located on the second floor of the home, and equipped with wifi, cable TV, air conditioning, hairdryer, and in-room refrigerator.
Each room has a different theme and decor. Monet Room is a corner room with a French Impressionist theme. There is a plush, king-size bed, a large flat-screen TV, and an en suite bathroom with a large shower and heated floor. Two windows overlook the lovely yards. Links Room is a vivacious golf-themed room with a view of the front garden. The full-size bed provides guests with a restful night’s sleep due to its extra thick pillow top mattress. The attached bathroom also includes a heated floor. Santiago Room is a unique, European-inspired room reminiscent of the innkeepers' love of Santiago de Compostela, Spain. The queen bed's luxurious pillow top as well as the upholstered rocking chair offer relaxation and solace after a long day sightseeing. There is a changing room in the suite which connects to the full bath, also complete with a heated, tile floor.
