The Asian Art Museum in San Francisco has one of the largest collections of Asian art in the world. There are currently over 18,000 pieces housed in the museum. Not only is the collection large, but it also spans over a long period of time. Some of the pieces are up to 6,000 years old!

The museum actually started from a rather large donation. An industrialist from Chicago decided to dedicate some of his vast collection of Asian art to the city of San Francisco. If you happen to be in town on a Thursday, the museum offers a special event where you are able to meet artists and architects. There are also thrilling performances!
