Adventures written by the VAMONDE Team
The Arden Theatre Company was founded in 1988 in a rented space in the Walnut Theatre by Terrence J. Nolen, Amy Murphy, and Aaron Posner. After two seasons, the Arden co-founded the St. Stephen’s Performing Arts Center, which provided a larger theatre and location for classes, education programs, and production shops. Shortly after that in 1995, the Arden purchased a 50,000 square-foot building with several performance spaces in Old City, where it remains today. The company is a full-service professional regional theatre known for high quality theatrical and educational productions, as well as programs for artists, audiences, and students in the region.
The Arden's creative team considers the audience a key collaborator in every production. The company has the city's first children's theatre program as well as a professional apprenticeship program. Whether a children's show or adult production, the Arden uses designers and actors of the same high caliber. To date, the company has produced over 90 professional productions, 24 of which were world premieres.
