The Antone's Famous Po'boys chain is definitely a favorite with locals. Over 50 years ago, the original Antone's shop opened its doors to the public. Since then, Antone's has been serving some of the freshest sandwiches and Mediterranean fare in Houston. The popular sandwich chain features five classic sandwiches—Tuna, Turkey and Swiss, Original, Super Original and The Piggy. Many regulars have made "The Piggy" their official sandwich of choice. Served on Royal Bakery Po'boy sandwich bread, "The Piggy" sandwich is piled high with ham, salami, pepper jack cheese, provolone, pickles, mayo, and Jamaican Pickapeppa Sauce. Although the classics are tasty, most visitors come to try Antone's signature Po'boy sandwiches. Seafood options include either shrimp, catfish, or oyster. They also offer some unique takes on the original, such as the Tex-Mex Cheesesteak Po'boy, the Cubano, and the Southern Beef Brisket. All sandwiches come with a hearty side of fries and popping hot hushpuppies so you'll never leave hungry.
The menu also offers a variety of other dishes to try, such as gumbos, hot sandwiches, seafood platters, and salads. Antone's also has a great Mediterranean menu with Greek salads, gyros, falafel, and Turkish pizza. Locals love that Antone's offers freshly prepared meals served fast-food style, with almost every item on the menu priced at less than $10.
