Al's Restaurant

For over 93 years, the same family has owned and operated Al's Restaurant, a classic fine-dining steakhouse located in the heart of St. Louis. Named One of the Top 10 Steakhouses in the World by Playboy Magazine, Al's Restaurant provides guests with a world-class dining experience with impeccably set tableware on stretched linen, subdued lighting, and exquisite menu options. Al's has been a St. Louis landmark since its opening in 1925 when it started as an unassuming tavern serving egg sandwiches to the dockworkers at the riverfront. The owner's cooking was so sought after that lines formed daily for their culinary delectables.

After the passing of the original owners, their son Al Jr., kept the business in the same location but he aspired to make a bolder statement with the menu. He took it from a cafeteria-style restaurant to a more sophisticated establishment. Without menus, servers are experts at their trade by reeling off a list of options whether appetizers, daily specials or signature entrees. Some of Al's award-winning dishes include their Beef Romano which is a filet mignon stuffed with prosciutto and romano cheese, then breaded and served with marsala sauce. They also serve their Italian Dinner consisting of a 4oz filet mignon paired with half breast of chicken Parmigiano and served with angel hair pasta.

Al's also serves lobster tail whether alone or in their Filet Oscar entree, a filet mignon topped with ½ lobster tail and fresh asparagus spears, and topped with a rich and creamy Oscar sauce. Be sure to leave room for dessert as Al's offers homemade ice cream or their specialty, bananas foster.
