One of the greatest independent bookstores in Philadelphia, A House of One's Own gives a colorful atmosphere and cozy feel to book browsers. Although it might be easy to miss, the weather-worn sign and milk crates of books are a clear indicator of a book-lover heaven. Nestled between the Victorian houses of University City, A House of One's Own is an incredible Philly gem. The store is run by a couple who, despite not having a website, know the location of practically every book squeezed into two-floors of shelving.
Browse any genre while simultaneously exploring the incredible architecture of the building. Equipped with hidden windows and a Narnia-like wardrobe, you'll be just as lost in the books as the house itself. The bookstore is made up of two floors with books lining the staircase and weaving through the walkway.
