St. Louis is famously the home of brewing behemoth Anheuser Busch. Budweiser has cast a large shadow over the beer scene in St. Louis since it was introduced in 1876. However, those in the know now flock to one of the many microbreweries popping up all over the city. One of the most innovative and beloved by locals is the 4 Hands Brewing Company. The taproom at 4 Hands Brewing is a great place to spend a couple of hours relaxing and sipping on a cold one. There are free skee ball and old school arcade games as well as a selection of 14 rotating taps. 4 Hands Brewing focuses on innovative flavor combinations combined with easy-drinking beer styles. One of the local favorites is City Wide, an American Pale Ale containing hops of Citra, Simcoe, and Centennial. The City Wide is smooth and crisp with aromas of citrus, melon, and tropical fruit. Another popular tap is the Single Speed, a delicate and soft American blonde ale that is brewed with pilsner malt and jasmine flower. It is a perfectly balanced concoction as the jasmine adds a floral and slightly fruity layer to the beer. There is no better way to enjoy St. Louis than trying out a local cold one. So let the tourist throngs crowd the Anheuser Busch brewery and check out something more local and delicious.
