Monhegan Museum of Art & History

Monhegan Museum of Art & History preserves and displays the art and history of Monhegan Island, Maine. The current settlement dates back to 1784 and although several Native American artifacts are on display, the most documented period of history on the island is from 1784 forward. The museum includes history exhibits featuring fishing, tourism, shipping, lighthouses, and nature. Monhegan is a well known artist colony, each year there is an exhibit in the Gallery as well as art that enhances the history exhibits. Open daily June 24-September 30. June and September 1:30-3:30 pm, July and August 11:30-3:30 pm.
