Herons, Liverworts, and Lilies

This urban nature walk will take you on a stroll through nesting sites for the state endangered Black-Crowned Night Heron, a striking-looking bird species that has been migrating to this part of the city since 2007. The adventure continues through Lincoln Park Zoo’s “Nature Boardwalk” to the Lincoln Park Conservatory, a Victorian era greenhouse that contains rare plants from around the world. The walk concludes contemplatively at the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool, a peaceful sanctuary only minutes away from the busyness of the city’s streets.
