Working with the Jo, an Aikido staff, has the potential to draw deep self-insight with a few simple steps. I always say it's like magic. It has the ability to illuminate patterns that are deeply ingrained within us, bringing the unconscious into consciousness. With this awareness, we have the choice. And with the jo, we have a playground for practice that incorporates the body and the mind.I've brought the jo into one-on-one sessions, I've taught it to large groups, I've taught it to six-year-old kids and 80-year-old women. It's truly a practice for anyone (though this class is reserved for ages 16+).Several introductory workshops will be held where you'll have the opportunity to learn and practice. Exploration classes will introduce myriad themes, allowing you to gain insight into your embodied patterns and learn tools for shifting in real life.
**Pre-requisite: Exploration classes are for those who have attended an introductory workshop or have done private jo work with Kara, Micah McLaughlin or Mike Cohen.
Each workshop will be held at Wilcox Park. Pre-registration is required, so I have enough jos available. Bring your own if you have one or you may purchase a jo for an additional $20. Classes are limited to 10 people.
Jo sessions are taught by Kara McNabb. Kara is a naturopathic practitioner at Magnolia Wellness. She focuses on the mind-body connection to help clients connect to unconscious belief systems to find truth, freedom and, ultimately, less stress and better health.
